John Ball qualified as a chartered accountant in 1976. From 1977 to 1979 he worked as finance officer for a community centre and was the finance director of an international trading company from 1982 to 1990 where he gained valuable managerial experience. In 1985 he started working as a part time consultant to Gotham & Co and joined on a full time basis as a partner in 1991.

John has been involved in a wide range of community and political initiatives and campaigns, ranging from working with political journals to sitting for the last ten years on the Finance Committee of a medium sized registered social landlord.

John has a wide variety of clients but particularly specialises in the area of housing where his clients include housing co-operatives and local authority tenant management organisations. His non-housing clients include nurseries, community centres and other charities, such as Rory Peck Trust; and campaigning organisations such as the National Assembly Against Racism and the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement.
