Gotham Erskine has developed as sustainable an office as possible. Our environmental practices are set out below along with links that aim to encourage others to do what they can.
The multitude of small firms in cities contribute substantially to the problems of global warming, air and marine pollution, deforestation and exhaustion of other natural resources. It is therefore vital that businesses and individuals work hard to minimise their environmental impact.
Green Initiatives at Gotham Erskine
- Gotham Erskine uses recycled paper for printing and re-uses paper which has only been used on one side,we also buy recycled loo rolls and paper towels. Cleaning products used in the office, such as soap and washing-up liquid, are chosen for maximum biodegradability and minimum impact on aquatic life.
- All our staff either use public transport or walk or cycle to work. We greatly encourage cycling, and are part of the government's Cycle To Work Scheme, whereby our employees can buy a bicycle tax-free.
- Our energy reduction policy ensures all computers, printers, heating and lights are switched off outside working hours. Both of our offices are fitted with movement sensors so lights are only on when they are actually needed. We also use standby busters to ensure appliances are switched off at the end of the day.
- Minimising the environmental impact of all new equipment is an absolute priority to us. We purchase the most energy efficient machines we can identify.
- All tea, coffee and sugar in our office is Fairtrade. We feel this is particularly important as our practice specialises in working for campaigning and not-for-profit organisations who try to benefit communities, as well as their environments.
